Put your money where your heart is and come out to downtown Douglas on the first Saturday of every month for the First Saturday event. Stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues feature specials and stay open later for this exciting community event.
The Main Street Market at The Gazebo in Central Square is a regularly scheduled event in downtown Douglas that features the finest in handcrafted, locally made items. Find your next favorite piece of home décor or that perfect gift and enjoy all that downtown Douglas has to offer. The market generally runs from 9am - 2pm March - December on the first Saturday of each month.
The Gopher Tortoise Festival began in 2019 and is Douglas and Coffee County’s largest festival. The arts and crafts festival is accompanied by endless food and live entertainment in downtown Douglas. Don’t miss this signature event. Usually held the first weekend in October. This 2022 event is scheduled for September 30 - October 1. The annual Think Pink event kicks off the philanthropic efforts of the local Beta Sigma Phi chapter to raise breast cancer awareness each October. Come for a fun night of laughs, music, celebration and remembrance as the community comes together to honor both survivors and loved ones lost while we raise money for a cure. We have so many flavors brewing here in Douglas and Coffee County, you will not want to miss this annual event that features the best from local restaurateurs and food and beverage vendors. Since 2020, the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce has organized a clay shooting competition for its members and community. It’s a great way for local businesses and industries to network and enjoy the great outdoors.
Join the Wiregrass Artists Guild and celebrate the art of local youth enrolled in Coffee County Schools. Artwork from students in grades K-12 will be on display. Held annually in March and hosted by the Douglas Coffee County Parks & Recreation Department and Coffee County Schools.
Every Wednesday in April, come to Emma Ward Park at noon for the Coffee Alliance for the Arts Munch and Music event. Bring your lunch and get ready for some dancing and great music.
On the 4th Wednesday of each month, except November and December, come enjoy a history lesson of our wonderful community. The free 1-hour program features a different guest speaker each month. This history lesson is given at the Heritage Station Museum.
Coffee Alliance for the Arts invites you to come see a classic on the big screen on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Enjoy all your favorite movie snacks while seeing a timeless movie how it was meant to be viewed. $5/ticket at the Rockin’ 8 movie theater.
The annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony is hosted by the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce on the first Friday of December at Aktinson Plaza in downtown Douglas. See the tree lighted for the season and don’t miss your chance to meet the man himself, that’s right, Santa Claus.
Watch as the Christmas tree put up annually by the Childhood Cancer Awareness Group of Coffee County is lit to celebrate the season. The tree is put up outside the Coffee County Courthouse every year and decorated with butterflies representing children who are battling, have battled, or were lost to cancer. The lighting is held the two Tuesdays prior to Thanksgiving.
The whole town comes out for this annual family event that features floats designed by community groups and members, the high school marching band and ROTC programs, plenty of candy, and, of course, an appearance by Old Saint Nick himself. This event is not to be missed. Route runs through downtown Douglas. The event is hosted by the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce.
