The annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony is hosted by the Douglas-Coffee County
Chamber of Commerce on the first Friday of December at Aktinson Plaza in downtown
Douglas. See the tree lighted for the season and don’t miss your chance to meet the
man himself, that’s right, Santa Claus.

Watch as the Christmas tree put up annually by the Childhood Cancer Awareness Group of Coffee County is lit to celebrate the season. The tree is put up outside the Coffee County Courthouse every year and decorated with butterflies representing children who are battling, have battled, or were lost to cancer. The lighting is held the two Tuesdays prior to Thanksgiving.
The whole town comes out for this annual family event that features floats designed
by community groups and members, the high school marching band and ROTC programs,
plenty of candy, and, of course, an appearance by Old Saint Nick himself. This event

Visit Douglas and the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce are excited to announce the Wings and Things Festival and Fly-in to be held at the Douglas Municipal Airport on Saturday, April 20, 2024. We will be there from 9am-5pm with antique airplanes and military vehicles and a hot wing contest benefitting Coffee Cause for Paws. Come fly in a PT-17 Stearman or a Huey helicopter. Meet pilots from all over the southeast, or fly-in for the day and show off your plane. There will be vendors, food trucks, entertainment, and so much more. The Gopher Tortoise Festival began in 2019 and is Douglas and Coffee County’s largest
festival. The arts and crafts festival is accompanied by endless food and live
entertainment in downtown Douglas. Don’t miss this signature event held the first
weekend in October. The 2024 event is
scheduled for Saturday, Oct 5th from 9am - 5pm.

Join the Wiregrass Artists Guild and celebrate the art of local youth enrolled in Coffee County Schools. Artwork from students in grades K-12 will be on display. Held annually in March and hosted by the Douglas Coffee County Parks & Recreation Department and Coffee County Schools.
Every Wednesday in April, come to Emma Ward Park at noon for the Coffee Alliance for the Arts Munch and Music event. Bring your lunch and get ready for some dancing and great music.
On the 2nd Wednesday of the month, except November and December, come enjoy a history lesson of our wonderful community. The free 1-hour program features a different guest speaker each month. This history lesson is given at the Heritage Station Museum.
